OHIO CITY, Ohio — The chief of the Ohio City Fire Department died Saturday of injuries sustained when he fell from a ladder, according to a report on Firefighterclosecalls.com.
Chief Paul Swander, 74, climbed a ladder on Thursday to fuel a generator at his fire station in preparation for a winter storm. He apparently fell from the ladder and was discovered a few hours later by his son.
Chief Swander was taken to a hospital and later airlifted to Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind. He passed away there on Saturday.
