CANTON, Ohio — A City Fire Department captain died this afternoon at a charity basketball tournament game he and fellow firefighters were playing against police officers.

Capt. James M. Hall, 40, of Plain Township, was pronounced dead at 3:04 p.m. at Aultman Hospital, said Rick Walters, investigator for Stark County Coroner P.S. Murthy.

Investigators believe that Hall’s death may have been cardiac-related, but the investigation was not yet complete. No formal ruling has been made, Walters said.
