MERCER COUNTY, Pa. — A volunteer firefighter in Mercer County who had just started a college internship with the Hermitage Police Department was arrested yesterday on charges of setting fire to a condominium community building.

Eric Trosch, 21, a member of Hermitage Volunteer Fire Department, was arraigned on charges of arson, reckless endangerment and related crimes in connection with the fire May 14 at Eagle Point Condominium’s community building, said Hermitage deputy police Chief Brian Blair.

Trosch is free on bond to await a preliminary hearing scheduled for Jan. 27.

Windows in the community building, which was under construction, were broken, and an accelerant was used to start the fire, Blair said. The fire extinguished itself; damage was estimated at $3,200.
