WORCESTER, Mass. — Residents of a Worcester triple decker were forced to jump from windows as a three-alarm fire tore through the building.
Flames broke out in the Goulding Street building today at around 4 a.m.
District Fire Chief Frank DiLiddo says five family members — including at least two children — were plucked by firefighters on a ladder truck from a third floor window.
Several others jumped from the second floor to avoid the fast-moving blaze.
The five family members were treated for smoke inhalation, while one firefighter suffered burns to his neck.
DiLiddo called the efforts by firefighters a “valiant rescue.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
