STAFFORD TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A veteran New Jersey firefighter died June 6 after collapsing.
Stafford Township Fire Department Firefighter Edward Eckert, 71, received a page and prepared to respond to the fire call when he became disoriented and fell to the floor on June 1.
EMS personnel responded and transported him to a local hospital, where he later passed away from what was determined to be a brain hemorrhage.
Firefighter Eckert served for more than 30 years.
