Project leaders said the knowledge recruits bring to the table in areas like insulation and preparing the home to be fire-safe has been a tremendous help

CINCINNATI — A fire department recruit class is dedicating more than 300 hours of community service to a deserving family for a Habitat for Humanity project.

WLWT reported that the home is being rebuilt for Metro bus driver Rosalyn Brandt and her children. Project leaders said the knowledge the Cincinnati Fire Department recruits bring to the table in areas like insulation and preparing the home to be fire-safe has been a trememdous help, according to the report.

“For Habitat to have a group of men like this, and ladies, that are very skilled at what they do, very trained in safety, anything that you could want them to do, they come and they’re already equipped to do it,” Habitat for Humanity’s John Paul McEwan said.

Habitat for Humanity hopes to have the home ready by this summer.

“It’s a privilege alone, just to get picked to be a recruit for the Cincinnati Fire Department,” fire recruit Joshua Alter said. “So along with that privilege, it’s very important that we give back to the community.”
