The impact of Keith Jones’ tumble while hanging Christmas tree lights has been felt in Olympia.
Jones, a tree climber by profession, fell 30 feet out of the community Christmas tree near Yacolt Town Hall on Dec. 9. He was taking care of the lights in his role as a volunteer firefighter for Fire District 13. Jones unhooked his safety line to move from one part of the tree to another and slipped.
He suffered a partially collapsed lung and a compression fracture in his spine. It will probably be another two months before he can go back to work.
