CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A teen was arrested for stealing a fire department truck and claiming to be the chief when the vehicle was found at his home.
WSAZ reported that Aubrey Turley III, 18, allegedly stole a truck from the Alum Creek Volunteer Fire Department and left his own vehicle at the station.
Police found Turley and the truck at a residence that they say he falsely claimed as his own.
While in custody, Fire Chief Jim Oldaker was brought to the scene and overheard Turley lie about being the chief.
“His response was he didn’t steal it, he was the fire chief, and it was his truck,” Chief Oldaker said. “It was kind of funny where I actually happened to be standing there when he said that.”
Turley was charged with grand larceny.
