PERKASIE, Pa. — William Baringer walked into March 16’s council meeting flanked by his fellow firefighters from Perkasie Fire Company No. 1, all dressed sharply in their dress uniforms. The council, like the department itself nine days earlier, was recognizing Baringer for 50 years of service with the borough’s volunteer fire department, a milestone he reached this month.
Council President James Ryder called it a “rare honor” to recognize someone who has been serving the borough and its citizens since 1965 and he was not alone in this praise.
Baringer was also honored March 7 at the department’s 125th anniversary banquet where he received honors from Gov. Tom Wolf, both U.S. senators from Pennsylvania and many others, according to Chief J. David Worthington.
