GLENDALE, Ariz. — A firefighter from the neighboring town of a fallen firefighter penned a tribute poem in her memory.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported that Glendale Fire Department shared a poem written by firefighter Alex Mathews after the death of fallen Mesa Fire Department Firefighter Niki Sullivan, who died after a long battle with cancer earlier this month.
“Mesa Fire Department lost one of their own to cancer,” the GFD tweet read, “a risk all firefighters embrace when they commit to this career. Our own Alex Mathews wrote this poem and shared this photo in honor of Firefighter Nikki Sullivan, and we wanted to share it with you.”
Mathews signed the poem, “Rest easy, FF Sullivan.”
