SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A firefighter who was seriously burned while battling a blaze Thursday has been released from the hospital.

Redding Record Searchlight reported that California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection firefighter Brandon Feller suffered serious injuries to his face when fire burned over his engine in the Klamathon Fire.

He was released from the UC Davis Burn Center on Sunday, and Siskiyou County Fire Warden Phil Anzo said his “spirits are high.”

“He’s getting a lot of support from the unit and fire personnel, the burn foundation and the Wildland Firefighter Foundation,” Anzo said. “There’s a lot of family support and love for him.”

A GoFundMe was set up to help Feller pay for medical bills and to make up for income he will lose as a result of the injuries, and it has raised more than $28,000.
