KINGSVILLE, Texas — A fire chief who suffered serious burns Wednesday is slowly recovering at a burn center.
Kleberg Volunteer Fire Chief Patrick Guzman suffered possible second- or third-degree burns to his face and body while looking under the hood of a school bus. Chief Guzman, who’s also a school bus driver, was under the hood when the radiator ruptured and spewed hot water onto him, reported KIIItv.com.
He was airlifted to a burn center in San Antonio. He received burns to about 17 percent of his body.
Chief Guzman’s family shared a hospital photo later this week and said he is in good spirits. He will continue his recovery at the burn center over the weekend.
