Dallas Cowboy surprises battalion chief with new SUV

DALLAS — Dallas Cowboy Sean Lee made a special delivery to the fire department this week.

Rice, in a partnership with Ford, surprised Dallas Fire-Rescue Battalion Chief Garrett Rice with a brand-new SUV to thank him for his service and recognize him for recently adopting four children.

Lee arrived at the station under the pretense of simply taking photos with the Rice family as part of an interview with them. But Lee also unveiled the new SUV just outside the station’s bay doors.

“You don’t go into this for any of this,” Chief Rice said. “I’m grateful for everything. It’s still just overwhelming.”

Chief Rice and his wife have two biological children, and welcomed the four siblings into their family.

“Garrett’s very passionate about all the things he does,” Colony Fire Chief Scott Thompson said. “He gives 100 percent.”

Last Thanksgiving, the Dallas Cowboys surprised the department with a station makeover. Lee also presented the Rice family with tickets to one of their games next year.
