TULSA, Okla. — To raise awareness of veteran suicides, Tulsa first responders are doing 22 pushups a day for 22 days.

According to ABC 8 Tulsa, Chaz Dahda, an EMSA paramedic, wanted to raise awareness of the number of veterans that attempt or commit suicide per day – 22. He committed to doing 22 pushups for 22 days in their honor.

Members of the Tulsa police, fire department, and EMS joined Dahda’s cause, and he encouraged them to do the exercises any time they get a chance.

“To all my fellow first responders, if you see me and it’s not an inconvenience to performing our duties, knock out 22 pushups with me,” Dahda said in an interview with ABC 8.
