Verde Valley Fire Department Firefighter-Paramedic Tyrone Bell died Monday after contracting the virus more than a week ago

COTTONWOOD, Ariz. — A Verde Valley Fire Department firefighter-paramedic died after a long battle with COVID-19.

Tyrone Bell died Monday after contracting the virus more than a week ago, KNAU reported. Bell reportedly suffered from seizures as and was transported to Barrow Neurologic Center in Phoenix for care before his death.

Bell worked as a paramedic for the Verde Valley Ambulance Company, and as a reserve firefighter for both Clarkdale and Verde Valley Fire Districts before becoming a career responder in 2017.

Bell is survived by his wife and a young son.
