LITTLE RIVER, S.C. — A firefighter’s job is centered around helping others — and sometimes that includes one of their own.
Firefighter James Giddens, who suffers from PTSD, took home Rudy, a Labrador therapy dog, on Saturday. Giddens was matched with Rudy after he was donated by firefighter Rob Greco to Canine Angels Service Dogs, reported WBTV.
The organization wrote on Facebook that when Greco donated Rudy, they had no idea he would be matched with another firefighter.
When medication no longer worked for him, Giddens reached out to the organization. “I want to make sure that I get healed some way, and I feel like with this dog, I’m not going to be 100 percent but my life can get normal and I can get off those medicines,” Giddens said.
