MENOMONIE, Wis. — The Menomonie fire and police departments received an unexpected donation.

Lynne Nielsen, acting as trustee for the Robert B. Wigen Family Trust, presented both departments with $100,000 each, WQOW reported.

“We’re immensely grateful for Lynne Nielsen’s unwavering commitment to making a difference and to the Wigen family for their enduring legacy of compassion. Their generosity will echo through the halls of our departments for years to come, touching countless lives and ensuring the safety and well-being of our community,” the police department stated.

The police department has not decided how to use the funds yet. A spokesperson stated they are planning a long-term strategy to maximize the donation.
