FANNIN COUNTY, Texas — Two people were killed Sunday when a fire truck and car collided.

Officials said Christopher Nelson, 22, was driving the rig eastbound when one of the front tires blew out, causing the rig to veer into a westbound lane.

An approaching vehicle then veered into a ditch, where both vehicles collided.

Two individuals in the car, Jose and Ana Chavez, died on scene, reported KXII. A passenger in the fire truck was transported to a medical center.
