PHILADELPHIA — A firefighter helped pull a woman back inside when she was sucked out of her window on a flight after the plane suffered an engine failure.

USA Today reported that firefighter Andrew Needum was on Southwest Flight 1380 when a window exploded and Jennifer Riordan was sucked out.

Needum and passenger Tim McGinty pulled Riordan back inside the plane.

“We got her pulled in and they tried to resuscitate her,” McGinty said.

Needum and a nurse gave Riordan CPR, but they were unable to revive her and she died from her injuries.

The plane made an emergency landing in Philadelphia after the incident.

“My husband loves God and believes our purpose here is to love fiercely and to serve others ... Some heroes wear capes, but mine wears a cowboy hat,” McGinty’s wife, Kristen, said.
