DETROIT — A 20-year veteran firefighter died from a heart attack Saturday after battling back-to-back blazes.
Detroit News reported that Kevin Ramsey, 50, returned from fighting a fire at an abandoned store with his crew when he claimed he was nauseous and had chest pains.
The crew began using oxygen and a defibrillator to treat him, and CPR was performed while Ramsey was transported to the hospital, where he died.
Ramsey was a 20-year veteran of the Detroit Fire Department.
“He was a wonderful, wonderful guy and a hell of fireman,” Detroit Fire Fighters Association member Mike Nevin said.
Ramsey leaves behind his wife and two stepchildren.
