JOPPA, Md. — Patrick Dailey and his sons took one final ride on a Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company truck on Wednesday.
En route to the funeral for their father, the senior deputy with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office who was killed in the line of duty last week, Tyler and Bryan Dailey rode on the back of Engine 813 to the funeral service set for Wednesday morning in Joppa.
The fire company posted an image of the sons in their fire gear, with their father’s jacket from the back of the truck, which carried Deputy Dailey’s casket, draped in an American flag.
The funeral was slated to begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mountain Christian Church along Mountain Road in Joppa. The road was closed to through traffic, as were others in the surrounding area, as a large contingent of law enforcement officers and dignitaries were expected to attend the service.
Dailey and fellow Senior Deputy Mark Logsdon were killed in a shooting in Abingdon on Feb. 10. The only suspected gunman was killed in return fire with sheriff’s deputies outside the Panera Bread restaurant in Abingdon.
