More than 30,000 firefighters attended the annual training and education conference in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — More than 30,000 firefighters from across the country once again descended upon Indianapolis for a week filled with hands-on training, educational sessions, special events, product demonstrations and networking at FDIC 2024.

Opening ceremonies
FDIC Education Director David Rhodes welcomed attendees to the show during two General Sessions and opening ceremonies – Wednesday and Thursday morning. The events featured fire service leaders addressing a variety of cultural and health issues impacting firefighters.

Honoring fire service legends
Two fire service legends were honored during FDIC’s Thursday General Session.

Deputy District Chief (ret.) Steve Chikerotis of the Chicago Fire Department was honored as the 2024 Tom Brennan Lifetime Achievement Award.

Captain Bill Gustin of the Miami-Dade (Florida) Fire Rescue Department was named the 2024 recipient of the Fire Engineering/ISFSI George D. Post Instructor of the Year Award.
Apparatus across the event
The exhibit hall floor is packed with trucks, engines, rescue and specialty units, and several unique rigs.
