Photo of the Week: FDNY honors 20th anniversary of Father's Day Fire
The FDNY held a wreath-laying ceremony for the three firefighters killed on on June 17, 2001
On Thursday, members of the FDNY gathered with the family, friends and colleagues to honor the memories of three firefighters who died battling a grisly blaze on Father's Day in 2001.
Firefighters Harry S. Ford, Brian D. Fahey and John J. Downing were working a fire at a Long Island supply hardware store on June 17, 2001, when a basement explosion caused the two-story brick structure to collapse.
On the 20th anniversary of their deaths and just prior to Father's Day weekend, a crowd gathered to honor the men and the sacrifice of their families with a wreath-laying ceremony.
