FDSOA names David Aparicio 2025 Fleet Manager of the Year

Aparicio serves as lead fleet mechanic and division manager for Platteville Gilcrest Fire Protect District

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — David Aparicio of Platteville Gilcrest (Colorado) Fire Protect District has been named the FDSOA Fire Fleet Manager of the Year.

Aparicio was recognized at the FDSOA Health Safety and Apparatus Conference in Scottsdale, Arizona, on Jan. 14.

The FDSOA Fire Fleet Manager of the Year award recognizes individuals who exemplify exceptional leadership and commitment to safety within the fire service. The award celebrates those who have demonstrated outstanding management skills, innovation in fleet operations, and a strong dedication to ensuring the safety and efficiency of fire department vehicles and equipment. Recipients of this award are leaders who inspire their teams, implement best practices, and contribute significantly to the overall effectiveness and readiness of their fire service fleet.

The nomination read, in part: “David Aparicio has been nothing short of amazing for Platteville Gilcrest Fire. He is an outstanding mechanic, a tremendous division manager, a great teammate, and a great example of how to provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers. He has built a fleet maintenance division from nothing to one of the best fleet maintenance divisions in Colorado.”

FireRescue1 and Jones & Bartlett Learning served as award sponsors.
