CONCORD, N.C. — Firefighters at Concord Fire Station 8 were awakened early Thursday morning by an alarm. But they didn’t have to travel far for this one.

Fire alarms inside the station went off at 4:18 a.m., according to a town press release, waking up the crew who began searching for the source.

A reserve ladder truck had caught fire inside the station’s bay.

The area was filled with smoke. Firefighters jumped into their gear and got a fire engine out of the station to then put out the fire.

Additional firefighters were dispatched to Station 8. The fire was under control six minutes after the alarm.

No one was hurt. The cause is under investigation. The town said the fire is believed to have started inside the cab area of the truck.

The town is now cleaning up smoke damage in the station, which remains open.
