SILVERTON, Ore. — A man was arrested after he allegedly sold his parents’ television while they were away on vacation and then set their Silverton home on fire.

Matthew Petrina, 30, was smoking meth in his parents’ manufactured house on the 1000 block of Oak Street in Silverton when a blanket caught fire and he fled, said Silverton Police Chief Jeff Fossholm. According to the Silverton Fire District, crews responded to the home just after 11 p.m. Sunday. They found heavy fire and smoke coming from windows on the side of the building.

They put out the fire in a little less than an hour after an aggressive fire attack, said Fire Capt. Ed Grambusch. Three fire fighters were injured when they fell through the floor in the residence.
