Firefighter injured in fatal 2-alarm house fire

WEST DEPTFORD, N.J. — A woman died in a fatal two-alarm fire in New Jersey that also sent a firefighter to the hospital.

According to 3 CBS Philly, the fire started before 1:30 a.m. Monday morning and neighbors reportedly heard a loud explosion. When firefighters arrived on scene, they went into defensive mode and attacked the fire from the outside.

“My guys arrived on scene first and it was completely engulfed in fire. It is a very sad feeling when you know you cannot get inside the house,” West Deptford Township Police Chief Sean McKenna said. “It appears that the origin of the fire was in this back corner of the residence,”

First responders transported one firefighter to the hospital with respiratory issues, but he is expected to recover
