NAMPA, Idaho — A fire chief who was critically injured in a motorcycle crash last weekend has been moved out of the ICU and upgraded to fair condition.
Nampa Fire Chief Karl Malott, 53, was thrown from his motorcycle Sept. 24 when he rear-ended a vehicle, reported KTBV. State police said he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Malott was airlifted to the hospital and listed in critical condition, but was moved out of the ICU Wednesday.
“Chief Malott is out of the ICU. He was taking solid food today but is still a bit groggy from the medication. He needs rest and time to heal. Thank you for all the kind words, thoughts, prayers and support,” wrote the Nampa Fire Department on their Facebook page.
