Several firefighters quit after new chief hired
Firefighters were upset because the new chief doesn't have formal training from the fire academy
JONESVILLE, S.C. — The Kelly Kelton Fire Department board named a new chief Monday night and that prompted several volunteers to walk away.
Ben Hauser was named the new chief and some members took issue with his lack of experience.
Hauser said he does not have formal training from the S.C. Fire Academy, but he said he does not need that because the chief is an administrative position.
