OGDEN, Utah — Her brother-in-law could not be revived, but the tears streaming from LeeAnne Edmonds’ face were not caused by his death.

Instead, the Kaysville woman cried tears of joy for the “angels” who responded to the call. “It was after all the lifesaving responsibilities were over that they really showed our family what wonderful people the Weber County Fire District hires,” she said. Monday, June 2 was a typical day for Jim “Dennis” Edmonds. He took his dachshund, Riley, on her first of many “walk-a-bouts” for the day at their western Weber County home. Then began working. About an hour later, his wife, Harlene, looked out the window to check on him and “knew something was wrong.”

Jim was in the process of repairing the septic system around 8:30 a.m. at his home in Ogden when he collapsed. Harlene ran to their neighbor’s for help. The Weber County Fire District responded but was unable to revive the 69-year-old man. “There was nothing anyone could do; Monday was a devastating day for our family,” said his sister-in-law with glassy eyes, who met her husband through Jim.
