Firefighter, 2 others injured in Pa. house fire

HIGHLAND PARK, Pa. — A firefighter suffered a serious leg injury, and a man and woman were treated for smoke inhalation in a fire yesterday afternoon at a Highland Park home.

Pittsburgh police said the fire was reported about 3:15 p.m. in the 5600 block of Wellesley Avenue. When firefighters arrived, the home was engulfed.

Police said the firefighter was injured in an accident involving a ladder, and he was taken to UPMC Presbyterian in Oakland. The man and woman inside the home were being treated in West Penn Hospital in Bloomfield.

There were no details on how or where the fire may have started, police said.
