NORWAY, Maine — A fire captain died Saturday following a response to a structure fire.
The Sun Journal reported that David Millett, 62, requested EMS to his home for difficulty breathing following the fire response. However, when medics arrived, Capt. Millett had died.
Capt. Millett joined the Norway Fire Department as a volunteer in 1972, eventually serving as captain and safety officer, according to the report. He was also treasurer of the Norway Firemen’s Relief Association and was also per diem deputy sheriff.
Memorial services will be held May 15 at 1 p.m. at the Norway Fire Station. Family and friends may attend visitation on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oxford Hills Funeral Services.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Norway Firemen’s Relief Association.
He leaves behind his wife, two daughters and a grandchild.
