TRENTON, N.J. — A second blood drive in honor of the Trenton officers wounded in a fatal shootout last week will be held today, officials said.
Today’s blood drive will be held at the Trenton Fire Department headquarters at 244 Perry St. from noon to 6 p.m. Detective Edgar Rios was shot twice in the torso during the gun battle with a domestic violence suspect on Hobart Avenue on Aug. 15. He remains at Capital Health Regional Medical Center still in critical but stable condition, police spokesman Lt. Mark Kieffer said yesterday.
Detective James Letts was shot in the shoulder. He was released from the hospital on Aug. 16 to recover at home. Both officers were shot by 23-year-old Eric McNeil, who was killed in the police return gunfire, authorities said.
