Over $40K in equipment stolen from Texas fire truck

The Potter County Fire Department truck was in for repairs when the theft occurred

SWISHER COUNTY, Texas — Over $40,000 worth of firefighting equipment was stolen from a fire truck Tuesday.

Amarillo.com reported that the Potter County Fire Department truck was in for repairs when the theft occurred. Police were alerted that the rig had been broken into and equipment was stolen from inside.

The fire truck was parked across the street from the auto shop; the area isn’t secured by a fence or locks.

Stolen equipment included extrication tools, a generator and other items not named for evidence reasons. The items were locked in a storage area inside the truck, according to the report.
