LADSON, S.C. — A C&B (S.C.) Fire Department truck caught fire Sunday shortly after it was used to put up Christmas lights.
ABC4 reported that a firefighter was driving the rig around the block when he saw fire in the mirror. He exited the rig through the passenger side and quickly took a picture.
The firefighter called crews from a neighboring department, who kept the fire from spreading past the cab and engine. Fire officials said the boom was scorched through.
“The whole cab inside is trashed, completely trashed,” C&B Treasurer Louise Franklin said. “I’m just glad nobody was hurt.”
The department is working with their insurance company to see if the 1986 ladder truck can be replaced.
Well today is a sad day for C&B after we finished putting up Christmas lights at the station we drove Tower 401 around the block to place it back in the station and the Tower never made it back to the station.
