PROSPER, Texas — An 11-year-old Prosper boy got the ride of a lifetime Tuesday when firefighters drove him to school in the front seat of a firetruck.

Firefighters said they wanted to give Brooks Capel a special treat after he returned $5 to the fire department earlier this month. “A lot of people might think it’s is only $5, but that $5 might come up with a cure,” said Assistant Fire Chief Stuart Blasingame.

The cash had fallen out of a fireman’s boot during a charity drive for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Capel saw the money blow away and asked his mother after school to take him to the fire department so he could return the bill.
