IRONDALE, Ala. — A firefighter remains in critical condition five days after he collapsed inside a house while putting out a fire.
AL.com reported that firefighters had put out the main body of the fire and were scanning the house for any other flare-ups when the man collapsed. The firefighter’s family has requested that his name not be released, according to the report.
Firefighters on the scene started CPR and advanced life support, then took him to the hospital. He has worked for the department for more than five years.
The firefighter is listed in critical but stable condition, according to the report. “He’s making some progress,” Irondale Fire Capt. Brad Doss said. “We’re just taking it day by day.”
