LAKEVILLE, MN - During the first week of September, the Republican National Convention (RNC) was held in the Twin Cities and required many groups and systems to be prepared for the anticipated crowds. One of these systems was the Minnesota Department of Health’s MNTrac system, based upon ImageTrend’s Resource Bridge, which is used to determine hospital availability at any point in time.
The MNTrac system proved itself by continually providing necessary information between emergency personnel and hospitals, increasing communication and emergency preparedness. Thankfully there were no major incidents, but the system was found to be extremely useful during the medical or emergency incidents that did occur, clearly demonstrating that emergency preparedness counts.
Two integral parts of the Resource Bridge system are the Alert Notification and the Command Center. In the event of an emergency, the Alert Notification feature sends out notifications via email, phone or pager. Individuals are then able to securely discuss the crisis and obtain more details through the Resource Bridge Command Center, which has a chat like interface, which is accessible only to authorized individuals. This saves valuable time in the event of an emergency, keeping everyone informed of critical information.
During the review and debriefing following the Republican National Convention, the MNTrac system was given 5 out of 5 stars by the Minnesota Department of Health for what worked best during the RNC.
