Announcing the “Ride for Boo” Benefiting the Brian Carey Memorial Fund

On Tuesday, March 30, 2010 the Homewood Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at a singlefamily residence. The crews made valiant efforts but could not reach 87 year old WWII veteran Wendell H. Elias.

Homewood Firefighter/Paramedic Brian Carey, a.k.a. “Boo”, willingly risked his life to save the life of a man he did not know. Sadly, this heroic act would be Brian’s last alarm. During his unwavering effort, he was gravely injured. That night, Brian Colin Carey, a fiercely brave and kindhearted young man, passed away peacefully.
