PHILADELPHIA — Police say a taxi jumped a curb and crashed into a crowd in front of Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, striking a bicyclist and a pedestrian, who are in critical condition.
Police say the accident occurred around 10 p.m. Wednesday when the cab collided with a car trying to merge into another lane in Center City. The taxi spun around, struck the cyclist, the pedestrian and a light pole.
Police say the pedestrian, a 58-year-old man, was rushed to a hospital with multiple leg fractures and had both legs amputated.
The bicycle rider, a woman, is also listed in critical condition with head trauma.
The cab driver and passenger were taken to the hospital with bumps and bruises.
