APCO Institute EMD Adopts New AHA CPR Guidelines

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The APCO Institute announced today they would be incorporating the new American Heart Association (AHA) Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) into the APCO Institute Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) Program.

Recently, the AHA released new guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC). These new guidelines contain many updates and revisions and are based on the most extensive evidence review of CPR ever published, according to the AHA. These changes include establishing a single compression-to-breath ratio for victims of all ages and changes to the guidelines for automated external defibrillator (AED) use on children.

To ensure that all current APCO Institute EMD User Agencies are in compliance with these new guidelines, the APCO Institute is offering an AHA CPR Upgrade Package to allow agencies to update their EMD Guidecards by replacing their outdated CPR and AED Guidecards.
