South Saint Paul, MN, - Waterous, a global leader in fire suppression technology recently announced the retirement of current President and CEO, Donald J. Haugen and the appointment of William L. Smith as the new President and CEO.
This change is effective November 1, 2009. Smith joined Waterous in 1997 and has served as VP of Manufacturing, responsible for all manufacturing and material management related activities. Smith’s first steps in becoming VP of Manufacturing were to upgrade the equipment, improve the safety of workers in the factory environment and improve product delivery. “We now have a world-class operation which, when combined with our employee’s skill and dedication, makes Waterous tough to beat,” Smith stated. Prior to Waterous, Smith spent 20 years in related manufacturing capacities in multi-plant companies such as Ansul (subsidiary of Tyco International) and Square D Company. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science degree from LaSalle University in Philadelphia and recently attended the Minnesota Executive Program at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.
Haugen started at Waterous in 1980 and has spent the last 16 years as President and CEO. During his tenure, Waterous has seen unprecedented growth and is now known as an international leader in the fire service industry.
