MOHAVE VALLEY, Ariz. — The Mohave Valley Fire Department is the latest local agency to go solar.

The fire district’s governing board voted 2-1 Tuesday to approve a $95,000 project that will include a solar array atop a new parking structure on the north side of the Station 81 property.

Of the total project cost, $75,000 will come from a grant from Mohave Electric Cooperative. Chairwoman Cindy Christy cast the “no” vote, saying she opposed the additional spending (for structure construction), which will come from the MVFD contingency fund.
