Revolutionary Hands-Free Thermal Imaging Solution now shipping!

MONROE, N.C. — This week, Scott Safety reached a significant milestone for firefighter safety, when its Scott Sight thermal intelligence system was third party certified to the 2013 Edition of the NFPA 1981 Standard. Scott Sight, which was first announced at this year’s FDIC exhibition, is an industry-first technology that enhances firefighter safety by providing hands-free thermal imaging capability for every firefighter. Since that introduction, the product has undergone extensive testing in training, independent laboratories, and certification environments, to ensure that it meets Scott Safety’s high standards for safety, durability, quality, and performance, culminating in the recent NFPA approvals.

Scott Sight integrates a lightweight, in-mask display with a miniature, mask-mounted and hands-free thermal camera that keeps the thermal image within the firefighter’s field of view at all times. This innovation provides the firefighter with a new set of eyes on the fireground, improving speed of victim location, enhancing firefighter orientation, and enabling immediate identification of escape routes should the situation deteriorate.

With these break-through capabilities, Scott has received a large number of new orders since our initial announcement, and with these new approvals, customer deliveries have started immediately. “After months of anticipation and preparation, we are excited to now be shipping to our customers,” said Kim Henry, Director of Growth Initiatives for Scott Safety. “Scott Sight is a game-changer for the fire services, and further advances Scott Safety’s promise to enhance the safety of our firefighters.”

Scott Sight is the only hands-free thermal imaging solution to be offered to the fire services, allowing firefighters to keep their hands free for other critical fireground tasks. Mounted inside the facepiece, firefighters now have a display that is unobstructed by smoke or debris, and can be viewed without interrupting their operations.

Scott Sight is now approved for use with all Scott Safety 2013 Edition Air-Pak SCBA, with additional approvals for 2002 and 2007 Edition Air-Pak SCBA expected in the near future. The system is also third party compliant with UL 913, ATEX and IECEx intrinsic safety standards. The product is available either as an upgrade to existing AV-3000HT facepieces, or fully integrated with the facepiece.
