CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Three adults were rescued from a sinking boat about two miles from the third island of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel on Saturday evening.

Emergency dispatchers received a call from one of the crew members about the sinking 19-foot boat around 8 p.m., according to a Coast Guard news release.

Dispatchers contacted the Coast Guard, which sent out a rescue boat and helicopter crew.

Boat crews from the Virginia Marine Police and the Virginia Beach Fire Department also joined.

The rescue crew spotted a man waving from the bow of a partially submerged boat around 8:30 p.m.

Two other adults were clinging to the boat in the water, the release said. All three crew members had life vests. The crew was transported to Lynnhaven Marina in Virginia Beach.
