Duluth, MN: Lance Mackey, 4 time Iditarod and Yukon champion, will be arming himself with the Minnesota invented/based water rescue device the ARMLOC. Warm temperatures in Alaska have increased the risk of water related disasters, which is why Lance will be equipped with a second ARMLOC on his sled to ensure optimal floatation if there is such an emergency during the Iditarod.
Lance Mackey tweeted earlier this week “I will have two of these on my sled. I’m covered if I go in the water. Msg me if you too want them.”
The device will also be featured on the Discovery Channel this week.
The innovative, lifesaving device ARMLOC was inspired after watching a liveTV water rescue. That rescue endangered the lives of those who tried to help and lost the life they were trying to save. The victim was unable to hold on to the lifeline. This is a rescue responders worst result, and it could have been avoided with the right tool. ARMLOC is that tool.
