LOS ANGELES — California and federal officials said on Thursday morning they were monitoring a wildfire in Northern California near three major transmission lines key to bringing power from the Pacific Northwest to the San Francisco Bay area.
Three 500-kilovolt lines are near a fire of at least 300 acres that started Wednesday evening, said LaVerne Kyriss, spokeswoman for the Western Area Power Administration.
Specifics on how close the fire is to the lines were not immediately available.
