RICHFIELD, Utah — A human-caused wildfire quickly grew to more than 1,000 acres, about five miles east of Fountain Green in Sanpete County, by Saturday afternoon.
The Polly’s Peak Fire started Friday at about 5:30 p.m., burning pinyon, juniper and grass land controlled by the Bureau of Land Management. Volunteer fire departments from several small central Utah towns were working with federal agencies to get the fire under control, the Richfield Interagency Fire Center said.
Air tankers, helicopters, bulldozers and other fire crews were working the fire.
