RIPLEY, Ala. — Eight firefighters from local departments succumbed to heat exhaustion Saturday while battling a house fire.
Tanner Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Marty Posey said the firefighters went to Athens-Limestone Hospital for treatment.
“Everybody’s doing OK now,” Posey said Saturday night, “but we sure did wear that ambulance out.”
