YADKIN COUNTY, N.C. — A tractor-trailer struck a pumper-tanker Monday while the fire apparatus was positioned near a vehicle crash.

Members of Arlington Fire and Rescue were helping merge traffic about a half-mile from where other crews were working a vehicle crash on I-77, WFMY reported, when the tractor-trailer struck the back and left side of the pumper-tanker.

An engineer who was in the pumper-tanker at the time of the crash has been treated at a hospital and released. The tractor-trailer driver refused treatment.
